“On the annual European music conference and showcase festival: EuroSonic Noorderslag, Norway will be represented by bands Casiokids, Diskjokke, Kakkmadafakka, Katzenjammer, Marit Larsen and The New Wine.
Besides the entry of those acts Norwegian festivals Hove and Øya will attend the event to scout for new talent in the comprehensive European Talent Exchange Program (ETEP). The Norwegian presence is supported by Music Export Norway. Marit Larsen is presented by NRK P3. EuroSonic Noorderslag takes place from 15 – 17 January 2009 in Groningen, the Netherlands.
With 2500 attendants, showcases from national and international talent and over 100 panels and meetings, EuroSonic Noorderslag serves as the prime discussion and network platform for the international music industry, focused towards European music, touring, festivals, the (live) music industry and media developments. Presenting 250 new and upcoming European bands in over 40 venues and stages in the inner city of Groningen, EuroSonic Noorderslag is the place for both industry and festival audience to see what acts will put themselves in the spotlights in 2009.”

The conference will feature keynotes by Herman Schueremans (Rock Werchter / Live Nation Belgium), Simon Frith (The Value of Live Music) and Moses Avelon (www.mosesavalon.com). Other hot panel topics include: ‘The New European Agent’; with Steve Zapp (ITB), Natasha Bent (The Agency), Rense van Kessel (The Alternative), Steven Thomassen (Toutpartout), Matt Bates (Primary), Kalle Lundgren (Pitch & Smith). ‘The Showcase Festival & Convention Panel ‘Export Ready or Paid Holiday'; with The Great Escape, CMJ, CMW, SXSW and EuroSonic Noorderslag.
EuroSonic Noorderslag works together closely with European media to give extended exposure to the performing artists. During 2008, at least 378 concert broadcasts of EuroSonic Noorderslag concerts were aired by 21 European Broadcasting Union radio stations. With the EBU group firmly behind the festival, radio shows containing EuroSonic and Noorderslag concerts will reach out as far as Eastern and Southern Europe and beyond...an audience of millions. Furtheron EuroSonic Noorderslag will be broadcasted live by Dutch national Television (NOS) and Rockpalast (de) and a wide range of music magazine will report on the event.
ETEP: European Talent Exchange Program
2008 brings ETEP to a new record with 187 shows by 64 European artists from 16 countries at 59 ETEP festivals in 19 countries. With over 730 confirmed festival shows on 60 major international festivals since 2003, ETEP is a successful EuroSonic Noorderslag initiative to stimulate the exchange of European music throughout Europe.
