"This is our music" focuses on independent spirit in such cities as Fife, Glasgow, Brighton, Helsinki, Haag, London, New York, Chicago and San Francisco, profiling bands, labels and clubs that make up the cities’ creative musical undercurrents. The lenses are not trailed on the headline-making big-wigs, but rather those idealistic souls who do not consider music a career, who are barely able to make a living out of this but still continue to do music, wonderful music, out of love. Past profiles include such bands, performers and lables as Sea and Cake, Fat Cat Records, Ken Vandermark, Thrill Jockey Records, Unpoc and The Books.
During their Oslo stay, MTV reporters Andres Lokko and Johan Jacobsen met up with two central and very active exponents of the Norwegian capital’s vibrant independent scene; improv collective Supersilent and tenth-anniversary celebrating indie label Smalltown Supersound.
The “This is our music” Oslo-special is scheduled to air on Sunday the 28th of March at 22.00 CET on MTV Europe.
Together with the Norwegian music industry event/showcase festival by:Larm, MTV has since mid-February been running a new club concept at the respected Oslo club Mono. Called “Accelerator presents “This is our Music””, the club night features live-shows and big-screen airing of the TV programme. On Thu 25, Martin Horntveth (of Jaga Jazzist fame) will play a solo set while Smalltown Supersound boss Joakim Haugland will spin the vinyl.
