Few Norwegian bands can equal Madrugada’s standing on the domestic as well as the international circuit. Their seminal “Industrial Silence” album hit hard when it was released some four years ago, and the mammoth sales and intense touring that followed in its wake was bolstered when Madrugada’s second album “The Nightly Disease” hit the stores shelves two and a half years ago. “Grit” is an angrier and more up-tempo affair, a departure from the angst and suppressed depression displayed on “The Nightly Disease”. Owing more to punk and straight-ahead rock than its predecessors, “Grit” is proof of constant development in the Madrugada camp. Gone are emotional falsetto lines and long-distance guitar-slide passages – in comes up-tempo riffing and energetically charged vocals that bodes well for the band’s future development.
