Whether they came to spot the new Röyksopp or not, last year’s by:Larm in Trondheim had the largest international attendance ever. More than 100 representatives from media, concert agencies, promotion, booking and record labels attended the seminars, debate forums and the many showcases at Trondheim's club scene. This year, the organisers are trying even harder.
“We are actively promoting by:Larm within the European music business as the event where the international music environment can gather, says Erlend Mogård-Larsen, leader of by:Larm.
As part of this strategy, the conference’s main language is English, and a limited number of foreign artist will be presented at next year by:Larm in Bergen 12 – 15 February. This way, foreign record companies can present their artists, who will compete with their Norwegian counterparts for the attractive awards (equivalent to British’s Mercury Music Award).
Monday 1 December was that last day for “early bird” registration. The fee for attending by:Larm depends on the time of registration.
The by:Larm conference started out in Trondheim, Norway in 1998, and many of the artists who were completely unknown, have since stepped into the limelight of national, as well as international media as well as music lovers’ attention. Röyksopp, Cato Salsa Experience, Jaga Jazzist, Kings Of Convenience, Sondre Lerche, Ricochets, and Tungtvann are some of the artists whom performed at by:Larm at early stages of their career.
