With three acclaimed albums, domestic and international touring and a loyal following, Emmerhoff & The Melancholy Babies have firmly established themselves as one of the Bergen scene’s foremost ambassadors. Carving out their own niche since 1996, Emmerhoff & The Melancholy Babies psychedelia-tinged melancholy has reached out to a wider audience at home and abroad.

The texture-rich tunes are carefully constructed by layers of reverb-laden guitars, underpinned by a solid rhythm section that creates a well thought-out juxtaposition to the six-stringers. Capped off by strong and melodic vocal lines, Emmerhoff’s package is something of its own – unique but easily identifiable. Comparisons to bands of Mercury Rev’s calibre are not out of proportion here.

Recently, a string of UK live dates earned the band some very positive reviews.

To borrow a quote from Q Magazine: “Emmerhoff & The Melancholy Babies menace beautifully with the icy charm of an arctic Nick Cave.”

Emmerhoff & The Melancholy Babies play the Frannz at the Kulturbrauerei on Wed. 29 September. sd
