The latest sales figures from the Association of Norwegian Record Distributors show that the domestic music market continues to shrink. The July sales figures are down as much as 36% in value compared to 2007. Sales of physical units are down a whopping 40% compared to last year while digital download sales grew with 26% in value.

Sales of singles are down 18% in value while DVD music releases are down 37% in value in July 2008.

So far in 2008, 4,5m physical units have been shifted, resulting in a total turnover of NOK 256m while digital downloads have generated a NOK 30m turnover. Overall, combined physical and digital sales are down 8% in total so far this year. sd
