Geir Sundbø, born in Porsgrunn (south of Oslo) on September 24 1967.

In his youth he was active as a clarinet player and conductor of school bands, played guitar in pop/rock bands and jazzensembles. He also started composing at an early age.

In 1987-88 he studied jazz at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, USA. In Norway he has studied composition and counterpoint with Gunnar and Maj Sønstevold, Rolf Wallin and Olav Berg. From 1991 he has been conductor at Porsgrunn Music School.
