Arne Hellan (1953-2002). Studies in bassoon and composition at the Norwegian State Academy of Music in Oslo. His teachers were Torleiv Nedberg (bassoon) and Finn Mortensen (composition). Later studies in composition at Indiana University, USA, with Bernhard Heyden.

Since 1975 he worked as a free lance musician, but became ever more active as a composer.

He wrote commissions for piano solo, double bass and piano, horn and string trio, english horn and string quartet, and for chamber orchestra.
