So has Frang already surpassed her mentor? Who will captivate the Americans most?
At 22, chances are it is going to be Frang, as Americans do enjoy a prodigy. Yet, despite the young Norwegian’s extraordinary talent and an already brilliant career, it is still of course Mutter who is the master and Frang the apprentice in the special relationship between these two violin virtuosos. However, their continuous collaboration is being noticed in the classical world: it is clear that with Frang Mutter has found a musical chemistry rare even for a superstar who has played with all the greats in the world.

The two first played together back in 1998 – when Frang was only twelve years old- at the Bergen international festival. And already then the international superstar realized that here was a supreme talent. But it was following Vilde Frang’s enrollment at the Hochschule fr Musik und Theater in Hamburg in 2003 that the collaboration between the two really got started and Vilde came under the aegis of Mutter.
From 2004 she has been a holder of the special scholarship from Freundkreis Anne Sophie Mutter Stiftung. This has been of principal importance since it has involved touring with Mutter in a duo format, playing Bach’s concerto for two violins in Germany and the Nordic countries. It was following the success of this tour, that Anne Sophie Mutter reinvited her for the current US tour with Camerata Salzburg.
Under the direction of Mutter, Vilde Frang and camerata Salzburg will play the Bach Double Concerto in prestigious venues like The Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. and Carnegie Hall, New York. The full itinerary is as follows:
