The latest sales figures for the domestic music market show that the negative trend continues. Music sales, including both physical units as well as digital downloads, in the first half of 2009 fell with 4% compared to last year.

Sales of physical units were down 11% in the first six months of 2009, while digital downloads rose with 55%.

Sales of singles fell with 54% in value while music DVDs fell with 14% in the same period.

Accumulated sales in 2008 amount to 3,2m physical units resulting in a turnover of NOK 203m. Download sales in the same period, which includes 3,8m downloads and 120m audio streams, has generated a NOK 41m turnover.
