Silje Nergaard began her international career at the Molde International Jazz festival when she, at the tender age of 16, spontaneously joined a jam session with among others Pat Metheny. Critics applauded and proclaimed Silje as a jazz star in the making. Almost overnight, Silje became one of the most respected jazz vocalists in Norway and was promptly signed to Lifetime records (EMI). The title track from her debut album ”Tell me where you’re going” became a top 40 hit in the UK charts. The album did very well too; it was top ten in Scandinavia and went straight to number one in Japan.
A flying start for the young singer, and she has indeed covered a lot of ground since the first jam session. She has released seven other albums, gone on numerous tours throughout the world and both audiences and critics love her. It’s her uniqueness and the way she is both playful, seductive and bares her soul for the audience that is the reason why jazz-fans all over the world can’t get enough of her. She is no ordinary jazz singer and she takes chances instead of playing it safe, she enjoys very much playing around with the genre.
Her latest album, the platinum-award selling ”At First Light”, was released in Norway in october, and this February in the rest of the world. Silje will do one last gig in Oslo on October 23rd before she heads back to the studio to finish her next album. Furthermore, she has just signed onto Asgard Promotions Ltd, a professional booking agency based in London, UK. Mr. Paul Charles will represent all of Silje Nergaard´s performance bookings for Europe with additional territories pending.
Asgard Agency enjoys a long tradition as one of the finest booking agencies in all of Europe. They have established themselves as a highly professional agency with such quality clients as Tom Waits, k.d. lang, Ray Davies, Jackson Browne, Hothouse Flowers, Emmylou Harris, Daniel Lanois, Los Lobos, James Taylor and many, many more.sd
