Röyksopp to release remix-album

Hugely successful electronica duo Röyksopp plan to release a compilation of remixes of Coldplay, Moby, The Streets and Peter Gabriel tracks.

Röyksopp

Says Svein Berge of Röyksopp to Norwegian daily VG on the planned release: “We want to show what we’ve been doing lately. People are familiar with the album version of Röyksopp which represents a fairly pretentious side of us, and they’ve also seen the live-version of us which is more up-beat, humorous and dirty. The remix stuff we do is the third part of our work, and we want to show this side to our audience”.

Röyksopp have begun working on a second remix for Coldplay. The first tune to be reworked by the Tromsø/Bergen duo was “Politik” – now it’s “Clocks” that sees some major revamping. The planned remix-album, for which a release date is yet to be made official, will also contain remixes of tracks by such diverse artists as Moby, The Streets and Peter Gabriel.

Röyksopp’s first and only album, “Melody A.M.” has to date sold more than 750 000 copies world-wide, and continues to sell. The latest single from the album was the recently released and slightly remixed “Sparks” which is now seeing airplay around the globe.

This weekend saw Röyksopp ending the successful Quart Festival in Kristiansand in front of an 11 000 strong ecstatic audience.

Upcoming Röyksopp gigs include concerts at London’s Somerset House, the Witness Festival in Ireland, the T in The Park Festival, the Gurten festival as well as a performance at the Fuji Rock Festival in Nigata, Japan.
