The loyal Turbojugend across the world are eagerly awaiting the new Turbonegro album that is set for release this spring. The aptly titled ‘Party Animals’ will hopefully reinstate the band as one of underground rock’n’roll’s biggest acts (or, as they themselves: call it: “the smallest mainstream band in the world”).

‘Party Animals’ is the follow-up to 2003’s ‘Scandinavian Leather’, and has been produced by Steve McDonald of The White Stripes, Beck and Redd Kross fame. The European album release date is 9 May - launch dates for the US and the rest of the world are not official yet.

Says guitarist Euroboy on the upcoming album: “We’ve got 11 hits, all of them beautifully negative switchblade serenades”

“It’s like the best bits of The Rolling Stones mixed with the best bits of Black Flag, but composed by Shostakovich, Stalin’s in-house composer” is bassist Happy Tom’s characterisation of ‘Party Animals’.

Songs to appear on the album include City of Satan, Wasted Again and Blow Me (Like the Wind).

‘Party Animals’ is set for a release on Swedish indie Burning Heart Records, home of such bands as Division of Laura Lee, the International Noise Conspiracy, Millencolin, Moneybrother and Promoe.

A few review quotes on 2003’s ‘Scandinavian Leather’: “The greatest band ever to walk the earth (8/10) NME. “One of the most unforgettable bands punk rock has ever seen (KKKK)” Kerrang.

To coincide with the album launch, Turbonegro have also announced live dates for a 19-date Eurpean tour that will see the band play gigs in Germany, Sweden, Holland, England, Austria, Spain and Portugal. The band is also set to play a number of major European summer festivals and a major European tour this autumn, but dates have not been officially confirmed yet.
