Röyksopp and Turbonegro set to play major UK festivals

Röyksopp and Turbonegro are both set to return to the centre stage with their new upcoming albums. Both acts are set to play such major UK festivals as Glastonbury and Reading festivals this summer.

Röyksopp 2005

Two of Norwegian music’s biggest acts, Turbonegro and Röyksopp gear up for a hectic season with new album releases and festival dates.

Röyksopp at Glastonbury

Röyksopp’s much anticipated follow-up to 2001/2002’s massive success ‘Melody A.M.’, ‘The Understanding’ is scheduled for release on 27 June through Wall of Sound. The first single from the record will be ‘Only This Moment’, which is out on June 13.

The Bergen duo has now confirmed the first live dates for the season, with an appearance at Glastonbury’s main stage being one of the most central gigs. Röyksopp are set to play alongside such acts as Razorlight, Kasabian, Bloc Party, Interpol and Hot Hot Heat at Glasto’s Other Stage. Glastonbury 2005 runs from 24-26 June

Party Animals

This spring infamous death-punkers Turbonegro return with a follow up to 2003’s successful ‘Scandinavian Leather’ album. ‘Party Animals’ is produced by Steve McDonald of The White Stripes, Beck and Redd Kross fame. ‘Party Animals’ is set for a release through Swedish indie Burning Heart Records, home of such bands as Division of Laura Lee, the International Noise Conspiracy, Millencolin, Moneybrother and Promoe.

Turbonegro are also set for some UK festival action this summer with a Main Stage slot at Carling Weekend Reading Festival on 28 August.

Loyal German, Swedish, British, Dutch, Austian, Spanish and Portuguese fans are in for a dose of Turbonegro magic as the band heads out on a European tour on 23 April. Tour dates in the calendar section.

The release date for Turbonegro’s upcoming album ‘Party Animals’ has been hastened – the release is to hit the store shelves on 27 April as opposed to the originally scheduled release date of 9 May. Reportedly, the album has been leaked to the internet and to in an effort to alleviate the feared negative effects of illegal downloading Burning Heart has decided to launch ‘Party Animals’ earlier than planned.
