a-ha reveal album details

a-ha have revealed details of their upcoming studio album that has been titled “Analogues”.

Keyboardist and songwriter Magne Furuholmen says that the album will show that the trio have taken steps in a new direction. Which direction it takes, he declines to reveal, stating that the audience will have to din out that for themselves. Front man Morten Harket describes the album as being “dance music for the soul.”

“Analogues” is scheduled for release on 7 November.

The first single from the upcoming album, Celice has made rapid progress on domestic radio charts, entering at spot number five a mere 24 hour after its release – an unprecedented quick advance on national radio.

Celice is set to be released to radio stations throughout Europe in the next few weeks. The single will be available in shops and as a download on 4 October.

Last weekend a-ha played a massive concert at the Frogner Park as part of Norwegian industrial giant Norsk Hydro’s 100th anniversary. It is estimated that the free event drew a crowd in excess of 130 000 people, making it the most massive concert ever staged on Norwegian soil.

Wrote Norwegian daily VG on a-ha’s massive gig at the Frognerparken: “In front of the largest audience that has ever been present at a concert in Norway, the trio delivered a parade of old hits, as well as five new songs. This is probably the best version of a-aha that has ever been on a stage. One of the new songs was the ballad Cozy Prison, which was lifted up by a beautiful piano theme. Just as beautiful were Holy Ground and Keeper Of The Flame, and they may soon become new live favourites in a-ha’s concert repertoire. The final fresh song was a rough thing with the title Analogue. Listening to 120 000 people singing along to Hunting High And Low was a magical moment, with an extremely high goose bump factor. A-ha and the audience got a concert for the history books.” VG rolled the dice and awarded the gig six out of six.

Following the release of “Analogues”, a-ha are set to head out on a world tour that will take them to USA, Germany, the UK, Holland, Austria, Belgium and Switzerland. More dates are added continuously – check MIC’s calendar section for updates. a-ha’s return to the live stage is a move that’s being welcomed by loyal fans world-wide; the trio’s show at New York’s Irving Plaza sold out in nothing less that 52 minutes!
