Two of Norway’s most celebrated female vocalists, Sidsel Endresen and Silje Nergaard are set to perform at UKs Cheltenham Jazz Festival in early May.

Following her sell-out appearance in 2004, Silje Nergaard returns to the Cheltenham Jazz festival as does jazz vocalist Sidsel Endresen who will also make an appearance as part of the group Speeq.

The festival's highlights include American saxophonist and free spirit Charles Lloyd who brings his new quartet. Miles Davis’ influential sideman Bennie Maupin makes a rare UK appearance, and the groundbreaking composer and trombonist Bob Brookmeyer is the artist in residence.

After her sell-out Cheltenham performance in 2004, the enchanting Norwegian songbird returns with music from her brand new album. Nergaard’s delicately husky voice, rich sensual tone and stylish self-penned songs have captivated critics and audiences throughout Europe, and are a perfect way to discover the joy of live jazz. Join her and her new band for a delightful evening concert.
Duration 90'

"Captivating, intriguing, graceful… There is a candy-sweetness to her voice, but this candy is not for children. It's after-dinner candy, with black coffee and the promise of what is to follow…” The Independent

Cutting edge improvisation and free jazz from this unusual north European quartet. Featuring Norwegian pioneer and ECM record label singer Sidsel Endresen and UK drummer and Evan Parker collaborator Mark Sanders, the band’s hypnotic sounds and sweet melodies blend with building tensions and fiery explosions for an out-of-this-world experience.
Duration 75'

“A breeze of soft madness… strange and truly original music” Jazz France
