Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra embarked on an extensive U.S. tour this November. The highlight of the tour is a concert in NYC’s prestigious Carnegie Hall on November 6.

Music by Edvard Grieg is a natural element of the program, since 2007 is the centennial of the composer's death.

The tour’s programme features works by Grieg (“Piano Concerto in a-minor”), Sæverud (“Ballad of Revolt”), Knut Vaage (“Catters”), Shostakovich (“Festival Overture and Symphony No. 5”) as well as excerpts from Prokofiev’s “Romeo and Juliet”. The orchestra will be led by renowned conductor Andrew Litton.

The Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra’s US tour features East-Coast performances in NYC, Atlanta, Miami, Wet Palm Beach, Charlotte, Fairfax, Annapolis, Storrs, Brookville, Orlando and Daytona Beach.

Wrote The Times following BFO’s applauded performance in London’s Royal Albert Hall on 16th of august 2007:

"One expects impressive things when famous orchestras visit the Proms. But there’s a special frisson when a less familiar band dazzles. Such was the case with the Bergen Philharmonic, a highly refined and mellow-toned ensemble that has waited 242 years to make its Proms debut, but which rose gloriously to the occasion with – of all unexpected choices – an immaculately prepared performance of Walton’s First Symphony".

Plans for 2008 tours are currently being laid. March will see BFO performing in Vienna’s Musikverein while an autumn tour features performances in the Baltic countries, Poland and Russia.
