Norwegian artist Hanne Hukkelberg is playing her way into the hearts of Americans this spring. She began her success journey in the States with a performance at the Øya showcase at the Oh My Rockness Pre-SXSW Party, and continued with a performance at Union Hall and then at SXSW.

Hukkelberg's performances, as well as her newly U.S. released, Berlin-inspired album "Rykestrasse 68", have received positive reviews from impressed journalists both in New York Times, Time Out and Pitchfork.

New York Times said about “Rykestrasse 68” that it: “has a brooding and quietly dramatic temperament, and it’s full of intricate sonic touches.”

“Her voice, high and pristine, brought ethereality and mystery to the song,” the newspaper wrote about her performance of “Berlin” at the SXSW Showcase. “Her accompanists worked expertly,” they added.

"Captivating," was Pitchfork's describtion of Hukkelberg's "Rykestrasse 68"; "Hukkelberg expands her work out onto a grander cinematic scale, casting her new songs with a vivid depth of field worthy of a Nino Rota film score."

Time Out joined in on the praise in their review of Hukkelberg on stage: "on the record, weird found sounds and ethereal textures hover around the singer, giving her pieces a surreal slant. Fortunately, the spell is preserved onstage, where she often performs with a mini-orchestra of players adept at eccentric moodcraft."
