Röyksopp set to return in October

Electronica icons Röyksopp return with a new album in October.

Röyksopp 2008

Since their 2001 debut with ‘Melody A.M.’, Röyksopp’s Svein Berge and Torbrjøn Brundtland have achieved what most of their Norwegian peers can only dream of: massive sales at home and abroad, a string of coveted award as well as a solid revenue stream generated by sync rights. Berge and Brundtland followed up with 2005’s ‘The Understanding’ which spawned such hits as Only this moment as well as healthy sales.

Now, the Bergen-based duo is gearing up for a hectic autumn campaign with Röyksopp’s third album being confirmed for release in October.

Says General Manager of Emi Music Norway Bjørn Rogstad to Norwegian daily VG: - Musically, my expectations are sky-high. Röyksopp has an uncanny ability to surprise me. Their latest album (“The Understanding) was fantastic, and it has just continued to grow on me.

It’s taken Röyksopp three years to create a follow-up to ‘The Understanding’ and Rogstad explains that the duo’s perfectionism is the cause for Berge and Brundtland’s hiatus from the limelight: - They’ve always been totally uncompromising says the EMI boss.

The as-of-yet untitled studio album is rumored to include contributions from among others Sweden’s much-hyped act Lykke Li.
