For the third consecutive year, the Øya Festival builds up momentum to Austin’s South By Southwest festival (SXSW) with a NYC Øya night featuring Casiokids and The New Wine.

Øya’s NYC night is staged in collaboration with Oh My Rockness, Øya’s US partner and the metropolis’ prime rock show listing service.

The Øya Festival is one of the biggest happenings in Oslo in the summertime – especially for that part of the population that swears by worn out jeans and old sneakers. Now, this being March, you still have to wait a few months for that, but, nevertheless, stop by the Bell Factory in New York on March 16t for the pre-SXSW Party.

The Øya SXSW night is held at Austin’s The Music Gym on Thu 19th of March and features Max Tundra, Wavves, Lemonade and Chikita Violenta in addition to Casiokids and The New Wine.

«Scandinavia’s premier pop-tronica outfit,» reads NME’s description of Moshi Moshi-signed Casiokids; most playful spawn of the Bergen vogue. The name relates to the band relying on vintage Casio synths, and with an almost equal emphasis on theatre, props and on-stage performance, their aim is to make electronic music more visual. Casiokids is a new concept, not just a hot new name in electro pop; their dance- and joy-inspiring amalgam has taken Britain and Europe by playful surprise.

The New Wine is one of ‘the second Bergen wave’s finest ambassadors. The outfit has performed with great success in the UK as well as at this year’s EuroSonic. The outfit’s by:Larm appearances earlier this year went down as a major success with strong reviews in domestic as well as international media.
