Trispann (180x104)Trispann

Publisert: 07/02/2003 av Tomas Lauvland Pettersen

Trispann presents a vocal repertoire drawn from the breadth of Norwegian folk music. Linn Korssjøen (vocals ), Åsmund Reistad (double-bass, mandola, song and guitar) and Aasmund Nordstoga (vocals) present traditional folk-songs, "stev", cradle-songs as well as religious folk-songs in a setting that varies from a cappella to sparsely guitar/mandola/bass accompanied tunes.

The emphasis is on music from Telemark and Østerdalen, but it also draws additional inspiration from Swedish sources. Trispann has built up an extensive repertoire that on one hand is true to its traditional roots while on the other hand is influenced by a wide range of other genres.

The arrangements and performances reflect deep respect for and love of traditional music, while the music is nevertheless performed in what may be called an untraditional way, with elements from other genres and a touch of humour flavouring the arrangements.

Trispann has developed a highly personal stage presence and an ability to stretch the format of a vocal trio. The instrumentation might be sparse and the tunes might be simple, but Trispann still manages to bring new life to old songs inflicting them with their vibrant creativity and solid doses of humour.
