Vintermåne: (cover) Vintermåne (150x150)Vintermåne: Vintermåne

MICs Listen to Norway series continues with Vintermåne: Vintermåne

On the self-titled debut Vintermåne successfully fuse traditional folk music elements with improvisation, harmonic structures that’s not widely employed within the genre, untraditional instrumentation and modern tools such as samples and loops. The basic line-up consists of vocals, saxophones as well as various keys and the three Vintermåne members manage to convey a rich and spacious form of expression that flows evenly and consistently throughout the whole album. Uncluttered calm airiness is the governing mood that encapsulates the traditional songs that are characterised by that distinctive wide Scandinavian musical space. The old and traditional tunes seem to prosper in their new environment, thus bringing tradition and innovation together.
