Sunny weather and high temps have not kept people out of the Norwegian record stores; July sales are up 28% and domestic repertoire is the market winner.

The latest sales figures from the Association of Norwegian Record Distributors indicate a healthy recovery on the domestic phonogram market, a market that earlier this year showed signs of slowing down. July sales of sound carriers were up 28% in volume and 24% in value compared to last year.

Sales of CD albums have increased 37% in volume and 28% in value compared to 2003.

As predicted, sales of singles are down 23% in volume and 23% in value this July.

Sales of DVD music continues to drop and are down 33% in volume and 33% in value.

Sales of domestic repertoire continues its healthy development. In July the domestic percentage landed at a record 25% - nearly three times as high as the July 2001 figures. YTD sales of domestic repertoire makes for a 23% stake of the market.

So far this year, 6,3 million albums, 534 000 singles and 145 000 music DVDs have been shifted on the Norwegian market, amounting to a total revenue of NOK 434m (€52,4m/$64,7).
