Celebrated Norwegian guitarist Trond Davidsen completed his education at the Norwegian State Academy of music with honours in 92; an education which had included the tutoring of such internationally renowned masters as John Mills and David Russel. He made his national debut in 94, while his international debut took place in London’s Purcell Room in 97. Since then he has toured extensively in Europe and North America –both as a soloist and as a member of Arctic Guitar Trio- made a number of appearances on Norwegian radio and TV, and performed as a soloist with Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation Orchestra and with the Norwegian String Quartet. Davidsen’s first solo release; My Spanish Guitar, came in 96.
On his current release Genuine Guitar, he presents the legacy of guitarist Andres Segovia who challenged traditional guitar repertoire and inaugurated the now rich tradition of original compositions for guitar. Thus the album is devoted to original guitar music from the twentieth century, and more specifically to the English and Norwegian tradition which is Davidsen’s own.
