The festival is acknowledged as one of the world's most significant art festivals. It distinguishes itself by emphasis on the fusion of arts and ideas, and displays a wide array of leading international artists as well as novel contexts and fusions in which the artists are involved.

Brazz Brothers og Women Unite (460x300)

Norway’s notoriously crowd-pleasing Brass Brothers will give three concerts during the two-week festival unfolding from June 10th to June 25th. One of them will be in collaboration with New Haven’s celebrated Heritage Chorale. The band will also participate in the artists-in-conversation series to discuss their art and the creative processes behind it.

The festival writes of the Norwegian outfit:

“The Brazz Brothers are brilliant musicians whose live performances snap with original compositions and refreshing arrangements, with a dose of humor and brass wit, to boot.

Thrill to the trill of the trumpet, and yes, yes, of course, there are flugelhorns! The Brazz Brothers will play traditional and modern jazz, and folk songs from around the globe. And they'll dance!

Be there when the horns blare. The city'll sizzle, the jazz'll dazzle as The Brazz Brothers take the stage.”

The other Norwegian act presented at the festival is Randi Tytingvåg. Still only 26, Tytingvåg has already for some time been regarded one of the most distinct singers and composers of her genre in Norway.

Arts & Ideas’ website describes her thus:

“Known for creating a special atmosphere whenever she takes the stage, Tytingvåg is an exciting singer with remarkable range and style. Her compositions are a crossover of different styles that have influenced her, including jazz, rock, classical, cabaret, electronica and folk.”
