Domestic music sales continue to drop – the first half of 2007 saw a 9% reduction in overall sales.


The latest sales figures from the association of Norwegian Record Distributors show that overall music sales dropped 9% in the first six months of 2007. These figures includes both physical units as well as digital downloads – sales of physical units were down 13% in 2007’s first half while downloads soared a whopping 104%.

Sales of singles continued its downward spiral – down 50% in value while sales of music DVDs dipped 27% in value.

So far in 2007, 3,8m albums, 141 000 singles and 104 000 music DVDs have been shifted, resulting in a turnover of NOK 243m. Digital downloads accounted for a NOK 19m turnover.

Warner 12,2%
Bonnier Amigo/Tuba 7,2%
VME 4,2%
MO 4,2%
Master Music/Naxos 3,9%
Playground 3,3%
MBO Sales Norway 2,8%
Bare Bra / Tylden 2,6%
KKV 0,8%


Total turnover in June: NOK 261,8m
