Domestic sales figures for the first half of 2008 are in, confirming the negative trend that has cast a dark shadow over the music market for the last few years.


The latest sales figures for the domestic music market show that the negative trend continues. Music sales, including both physical units as well as digital downloads, in the first half of 2008 fell with 3% compared to last year. Sales of physical units were down 6% in the first six months of 2008, while digital downloads rose with 38%.

Sales of singles fell with 49% in value while music DVDs rose with 20% in the same period.

Accumulated sales in 2008 amount to 4m physical units resulting in a turnover of NOK 228m. Download sales in the same period has generated a NOK 26m turnover.
