Don’t miss this rare opportunity to see rising Norwegian jazz star Frøy Aagre in concert as she teams up with trumpet icon Kenny Wheeler for a much anticipated performance at the London Jazz Festival.
Aagre first picked up the saxophone at the age of twelve and has since attended musical schools and conservatories in Oslo, Birmingham, London and Buenos Aires, studying a wide array of genres and styles.
Frøy Aagre’s debut album “Katalyze” (2004) firmly established her as one of Norway’s most critically acclaimed saxophonists.
Aagre’s second album,”Countryside”, has garnered world-wide acclaim from critics and musicians alike. The album was rated as one of the top ten albums in 2007 by Norwegian newspaper Dagsavisen, and Stephen Latessa of All About Jazz says it is “an ambitious and lovely followup to Frøy Aagre Offbeat’s debut album, 2004’s ‘Katalyze’ ... ‘Countryside’ is dense but far from inaccessible, due to the sheer tunefulness of the writing and the pithy inventiveness of the playing.”
Following the release of Countryside, Aagre has toured extensively in Europe and played at festivals such as Copenhagen Jazzfestival, London Jazz Festival and Prague Jazz Open.
