With November’s successful launch of London Scandi-themed club night JA JA JA secured, the monthly event returns with a Christmas edition featuring Harrys Gym.

Following November's successful launch concert, the Nordic monthly club night JA JA JA returns with a Christmas party starring, among others, acclaimed Norwegian outfit Harrys Gym.

The new Nordic monthly club night, JA JA JA, returns to the Lexington with a great line up curated by Xfm’s John Kennedy. The night will see performances by Swedish singer-songwriter Sofia Talvik, Norwegian psychedelic pop group Harrys Gym and Icelandic electronic renegades Bloodgroup, some of the most talented musicians the Nordic countries have to offer.

Last month’s launch party saw live performances from Kira Kira, I Was A King, Francis and TV Off. The bands were selected from a shortlist by Huw Stephens of BBC Radio 1.

JA JA JA aims to draw attention to emerging talents from the Nordic countries and help them to break through in the UK. JA JA JA is an initiative supported by the Nordic Music Export Offices (NOMEX), represented by Export Music Sweden, Music Export Denmark, Music Export Finland, Icelandic Music Export and Music Export Norway.

Harrys Gym consists of Anne Lise Frøkedal, Bjarne Stensli, Erlend Ringseth and Ole Myrvold. The band released their debut album in September last year, with the first single “Brother” being a hit in Norway last year.

The Clash Magazine declared Harrys Gym as one of the festival highlights at the By:Larm Festival 2009: "Harrys Gym have a presence and sound that could easily leap the fjords to international note. With a haunted female singer alongside three comrades layering an intricate rhythmic landscape, it’s hard to comprehend their name; yet running their entire sound through the stupidly talented drummer works well, as deep and filthy programming snugly slots into their driving percussion. The singer’s acerbic vocals are angled somewhere between Garbage and The Knife and cut through the evening’s more moderate successes like the icy wind outside the venue. Massive promise."

NME also ranked Harrys Gym as one of the top five acts at the by:larm festival in 2008, while Drowned In Sound described the band as ‘a bruising, sonic squall of an affair’ and that ‘dramatic dark pop is the order of the day, equal parts delicate and muscular.
