February sees Harrys Gym returning to the UK for a string of dates, including an appearance at HMV's Next Big Thing festival.

Following a number of successful UK appearances over the last years, including stints at the popular Ja Ja Ja! Club night, Harrys Gym return in February for another tour that also features an appearance at HMV's Next Big Thing festival.

Harrys Gym’s latest outing was 2010’s ‘What Was Ours Can't Be Yours’, the album will see its release in the UK this year and the album’s main single Old Man is out now.

Writes The Clash Magazine in a live review of Harrys Gym:

"Harrys Gym have a presence and sound that could easily leap the fjords to international note. With a haunted female singer alongside three comrades layering an intricate rhythmic landscape, it’s hard to comprehend their name; yet running their entire sound through... the stupidly talented drummer works well, as deep and filthy programming snugly slots into their driving percussion. The singer’s acerbic vocals are angled somewhere between Garbage and The Knife and cut through the evening’s more moderate successes like the icy wind outside the venue. Massive promise."

NME also ranked Harrys Gym as one of the top five acts at the by:larm festival back in 2008, while Drowned In Sound described the band as ‘a bruising, sonic squall of an affair’ and that ‘dramatic dark pop is the order of the day, equal parts delicate and muscular.

Wrote The Sun in a review of the band’s latest single Old Man: "Anne Lise's icy vocal carries this track along with delicate power. A darkly dreamy, Scandinavian delight." Time Out in a review of the same track: ‘Dreadful Moniker aside, Norway’s Harrys Gym are like a femme-fronted Fleet Foxes mixed with The Knife. As elegant and ethereal as a snow-swept mountain fjord.’

Harrys Gym have, alongside Katzenjammer and Sivert Høyem, also been invited to perform at HMV's Next Big Thing festival – a festival that aims to showcase and celebrate the very best new and emerging talent drawn from all genres across the music spectrum tipped to make it big or to breakthrough in 2011. The festival will run for over a week between 4th – 13th February 2011 in London, Birmingham and Edinburgh. Each venue will host up to three acts per night and, in keeping with the remit of introducing new music to as many people as possible, entry to the gigs and label nights will be for the bargain price of a flat £10 (incl. booking fee), whoever the artist and whichever the venue.

All tour dates are listed in the event section on the bottom of this page.
