Carnegie Hall recital debut for Tine Ting Helseth

Trumpeter Tine Thing Helseth and pianist Håvard Gimse to perform at NYC’s Carnegie Hall in February.


February 18th sees trumpeter Tine Thing Helseth making her NYC recital debut together with pianist Håvard Gimse performing a varied programme as part of Carnegie Hall’s Distinctive Debuts series.

The concert, which takes place in Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall, features a programme well suited for the young trumpet player’s flawless technique:

Tine Thing Helseth

Still in her early twenties, the Norwegian trumpet player Tine Thing Helseth is on the path of an international career as brilliant as the tone of her instrument. Since her breakthrough at the Eurovision Young Musicians competition in 2006, where she claimed second place, her trajectory has swept her skyward and around the world, winning numerable awards and earning fantastic reviews, not least for her 2007 record debut, entitled simply Trumpet Concertos. Thing Helseth was awarded The Borletto Buitoni Trust Fellowship 2009, which is an important international award and a career launcher for young exceptional classical musicians. Highlights at the end of 2009 included her U.S. recital debut in Washington. D.C and a return to the Ulster Orchestra. Engagements during the 2009/2010 season included the Norrköpings Symphony Orchestra and Camerata Bern. The 2010/2011 season will among others bring her France debut with Orchestre de Lille and the above mentioned Carnegie Hall recital debut.

Håvard Gimse

Håvard Gimse has established himself as a leading Scandinavian pianist. His distinct and rich musical palette reflect his artistic strength, experienced from early years and developed through extensive and varied concert activities.has established himself as a leading Scandinavian pianist. He is a recipient of Steinway-prize, the Grieg-prize and the Sibelius Award. He has contributed to more than 30 album releases on labels such as NAIM, Naxos, Sony, Chandos og Simax. As a recitalist and chamber musician Gimse has succesfully performed in Wigmore Hall "Young Master´s Series", Carnegie Hall Weill Recital & Zankel Halls, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, St.Petersburg Philharmonic Great Hall, Suk Hall Prague, Konzerthaus Berlin, New York Frick Collection and National Gallery of Art, Washington D.C.
