Søknadsfrist: The 2008 Annual Stulberg International String Competition

The 2008 Annual Stulberg International String Competition will take place Saturday, March 8, at the Dalton Center for performing Arts at Western Michigan University, Kalamazoo, MI. ISB past president Tom Knific will serve on the judge's panel for the 2008 competition. Applications for the competition must be postmarked by December 15, 2007. The Gold medal award is $5,000 and a performance with the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra; the Silver medal award is $4,000 and a solo performance on Fontana Chamber Arts Summer Festival Series; and the Bronze medal award is $3,000 and a performance with the Kalamazoo Junior Symphony Orchestra. A special award of $500 will be given to the semifinalist giving the best performance of a work by J.S. Bach. For over 30 years the mission of the Stulberg International String Competition has been to promote excellence in string instrument performance in musicians under the age of twenty. It was established in memory of Julius Stulberg, conductor of the Kalamazoo Junior Symphony Orchestra and a beloved professor of violin at Western Michigan University.
