Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra plays the Norwegian composer Finn Mortensen's Symphony no. 1

Finn Mortensen established Norway's first degree in composing at the Oslo conservatory and was for a long time Norway's only professor of composing. His only symphony dates from his neoclassical period early in the 1950's, before he started to explore avantgarde techniques of composing. Conductor Peter Szilvay has taken a special interest in this work, which was premiered by the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra in 1963.
