The St. Olav Days 2003

The battle of Stiklestad of 1030 is the most famous battle in Norwegian history. It was here that the Christian Viking king Olav Haraldsson fell during the fight against local chieftains. The king was sanctified, and later became known as St. Olav. This resulted indirectly in the unification of Norway and the Norwegians were Christianised. The year of 2004 marks the 50th anniversary of Norway`s largest open-air play, "The St.Olav Drama". About 600 professionals and the amateurs participate, including som of Norway`s leading actors. A summary of the play has been transelated into English, German and French. "The Saint Olav Days" at Stiklestad have developed into a festival around The Saint Olav Drama, with a varity of events over 10 days. Conserts, theatre, an art exhibition, activities for children and a medival marked.
