Røros Winter Chamber Music Festival 2006

The programme for Vinterfestspill i Bergstaden 2006, our 8th consecutive year of chamber music making on an international level, features 18 artists, one jazz ensemble and no less than two string orchestras that hopefully will heat up the otherwise frozen scenery of Røros in March.

Four days to make the entire region of mid-Norway resound and resonate!

Although our focus remains on classical and contemporary ensemble music, we offer a refreshing diversity of expressions ranging from folk music via jazz to literature and poetry. We find this panoply of genres and arts to have proven mutually beneficial; synergetic thinking in programming, moreover, seems to be a possible way of reviving the classical music and rejuvenating its out-of-date conformities. We hope the hallmark of this philosophy will be visible - and even more audible! - on our 2006 festival.
