Festival of Sound.
nyMusikk’s annual festival of adventurous music will this year focus on machines: futuristic, obsolete or fictional, machines as utopian instruments of ideas, or as dystopian mechanism.
With screenings, a symposium and live performances, the festival will explore the dreams of machines. Featuring Conlon Nancarrow as played on the pianola by Rex Lawson, a one off set by Biosphere using the sounds of the ultra-rare East-German Subharchord instrument, sound artist Maia Urstad, a cassette set by Aki Onda, new works by norwegian composers Øyvind Torvund and Christian Blom, Aura Satz performing with Maja Ratkje and cellist Anton Lukoszevieze, vocoder special by Dave Tompkins, a specially commissioned piece by Stefan Goldmann for the norwegian percussion trio Pinquins, and more.
