Aims to be a professional ensemble dedicated to the performance of choral music. With this as the main objective, the choir has achieved a unique position on the Norwegian musical circuit. Knut Nystedt was Artistic Director until 1990 when Grete Pedersen Helgerød was appointed as conductor. The choir has given 200 first performances, and in addition to extensive touring in Norway, it has also been an important ambassador for Norway abroad. In 1994 the choir represented Norway at EBU's Palestine Festival. On several occasions it has worked with the Swedish conductor Eric Ericsson.
