Jan Gunnar Hoff

Norwegian jazz pianist and composer. Educated at the Trondheim Conservatory 1986-89. 4 solo-recordings with his band Jan Gunnar Hoff Group including Audun Kleive and Bjørn Kjellemyr. Hoff has collaborated with many fine artists, a.o Pat Metheny, Chick Corea, Mike Stern, Kenwood Dennard, Cæcilie Norby and Martin France. He has composed works for chamber orchestra, choir and other settings, in addition to jazzcompositions for his five solo recordings and his commission for Vossajazz 2005, "Free flow songs" with Maria Joao. Hoff received the norwegian Edvard-price from TONO in 2005. His latest compositions include "MAGMA" feat Mike Stern 2006-2008 and "Electric blue" 2009. Since 2008 Hoff has worked extensively with his new trio featuring Alex Acuna on drums and percussion in addition to bassplayer Per Mathisen.
