Helge Kjekshus
Pianist, Conductor
Regarded as one of the most talented and sought after Norwegian musicians. He studied with professor Boris Berman at Yale University 1995-97, where he received his Master of Music Diploma. Prior to this, he studied with professor Jiri Hlinka at the Bergen Music Conservatory. In 1990 he graduated from the Norwegian State Academy of Music. Kjekshus has performed concertos with leading Scandinavian orchestras, in the Baltic, Santa Fe Symphony Orchestra in the US, Bernische Musikgesellschaft in Switzerland, and St. Petersburg State Symphony Orchestra in Russia, and has collaborated with conductors such as Paavo Berglund, Osmo Vãnske, Dmitri Kitayenko, Alexander Dmitriev, Janos Fürst, Tomasz Bugaj, Alexander Kantorov, Andras Ligeti and Ari Rasilainen. Kjekshus has held solo recitals in the US, Germany, Poland, Denmark, Sweden, Lebanon, Japan, South Korea and throughout Norway. He has recently taken up conducting, and has already conducted Oslo Sinfonietta and Oslo Chamber Orchestra.
