Michael Tucker

Dr Michael Tucker is Professor of Poetics at the University of Brighton and a regular contributor to Avant and Jazz Journal International. Author of Jan Garbarek: Deep Song (Eastnote/University of Hull Press, Hull 1998) he has a specialist interest in Nordic culture and has published a variety of catalogue essays, articles and books in this area eg on the Norwegian painter and graphic artist Frans Widerberg. the Norwegian poet Jan Erik Vold and the Norwegian composer Thomas Widerberg. Director of the month-long November 1999 University of Brighton music and arts festival ECM:Selected Signs, he has recently contributed the sleeve-note to Karl Seglem's 2002 release Nye Nord (NORCD) and written a survey of contemporary Norwegian graphic art for the British magazine Printmaking Today (Summer 2002)
