
Ørjan Matre
Composer
Ørjan Matre (b. 1979) was born in Bergen in Norway. He has been studying composition at the Norwegian Academy of Music with Bjørn Kruse, Lasse Thoresen, Olav-Anton Thommessen and Henrik Hellstenius.
Ørjan Matre has written a number of pieces for different types of instrumentation, from smaller chamber- and solo pieces to major works for orchestras, several of which have been performed at concerts and festivals in Norway, as well as abroad.
His work “Four miniatures for Orchestra” was in 2005 recorded by the Norwegian Radio Orchestra under the direction of Rolf Gupta. The cd with music by four young Norwegian composers was released on the Aurora label in 2006. From 2006 to 2008 he was composer in residence for Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra.
