Marita Solberg
Soprano
Born in Levanger, Norway. She studied at the Tronderlag Music Conservatory, at the National College of Operatic Art in Oslo, and at the State Academy of Music in Oslo. She has established herself as one of Scandinavia´s most sought after singers. She has sung concerts in Vienna, Paris, Barcelona, Madrid, Dresden, Stuttgart, Hanover, Tel Aviv, Minnesota, The Hague, and St. Petersburg. Marita Solberg is especially sought after as Solveig in Grieg´s Peer Gynt, and has recorded the role for the record label BIS. In 2004 Marita Solberg was the 3rd-prize-winner at the 23rd International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition in Vienna. She was also presented the International Media Jury Award, as well as an award from the Europäischen Musiktheater-Akademie in Vienna, and engagements at the Semperoper Dresden and Oper Leipzig. In 2001 Marita Solberg was the 1st-prize-winner of the Queen Sonja International Singing Competition in Oslo. In 2001 she was awarded the Wallenberg stipend.
